@jon-nyc said in "Women's" Boxing at the Olympics: Sex isn’t assigned at birth. It’s determined at meiosis, or determined at gamete fusion, depending on how you want to think about it. I think the former is more accurate. Re: "we'd assigned at brith," I was just quoting statutory language that's becoming more common these days.

If you really want to experience the joy of professional sports and in particular the wonderful behaviour of the fans, you should try living in a small town that is home to a large sports stadium. Do I miss it? No, I don't.

JFK knew... USAID was first a defense strategy, and second a humanitarian effort.

I mean, we'd be almost 4 months into Harris' presidency and the Russian/Ukraine and Israel/Hamas wars would still be raging. Many people have told me they could be solved in one day.

This speaks to American's view on the rule of law and the lawyer's role in society. One can easily imagine a different society where businesses favor law firms that have good relationships with the government as they expect the lawyers to help grease the bureaucratic wheels with various things, like getting government permits and favored protections from competition and torts.

The Weekend at Bernie’s sequel didn’t help, and don’t dismiss the fact that Kamala was a singularly bad candidate.

An encouraging talk. But, I am not sure I agree with the below But he said the US cannot deter the Chinese threat alone, calling on other nations to be “force multipliers” against Beijing. The US could deter China alone, but I understand the need to encourage other Asian countries to increase also.

@Axtremus said in Somebody let AI do his homework: Unfortunately not everybody cares. People who are willing to believe (or at least not dispute) Trump‘s “many people say …” stuff are unlikely to care about citation and reference accuracy. Even here, where we believe our regulars are more thoughtful, more informed than the general population, not every one thinks references and citations are important. Unfortunately, it is something both sides are guilty of. If it is (generic) your side that does something stupid, it is easy to dismiss. If (generic) you is on the other side, it is a big deal. It is a rare politician who is willing to speak up against their side.

Yes, interesting life. Did some good things, but did some bad things also. I am guess that he believed that most rules did not apply to him.
